Vera Lashay Morris

Vera Morris is currently residing in Cary, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Willie and Glessa Morris, Nashville, NC. She is a Consultant at Yardi Systems, Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina and a Professional Model with Marilyn’s Agency, Greensboro, NC.


Vera received her Associates of Arts degree from Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina. And a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication, from the University of Georgia.


Vera fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming Miss North Carolina USA in 1998. She was awarded the Miss Congeniality award at the televised, Miss USA 1998 pageant. Throughout her reign she received modeling and acting opportunities and appeared on The Wheel of Fortune. In 2015, Vera became an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen, in which she would raise awareness about breast cancer, and speak at events. She also has been running in Susan G Komen races all across North Carolina for over 5 years. Vera was an Honorary Chairperson for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Charlotte NC, where she was marketing events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and attending fundraiser events. Vera partnered with Blue Cross NC on their Drive for the Cure campaign. She recently partnered with Hologic Inc. for their Back to Screening Campaign. Vera’s platform “Treasure Your Chest” was inspired by numerous brave and amazing women who were diagnosed with breast cancer. “Treasure Your Chest” helps to bring awareness about the importance of early detection; advocates and focuses on fundraising for research and treatments as-well-as supports and recognizes people who have been affected by this life changing disease. Far greater than any amount of gold, silver, or diamonds, “Treasure Your Chest” is a reminder that early detection and aggressive treatment saves lives.


In 2008, Vera was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. She became an advocate for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, where she raised over $9,000.00. In 2019, Vera began motivational speaking about Mental Health Awareness, based upon her experiences dealing with, and overcoming depression and anxiety. She wants to continue to raise awareness about the importance of mental wellness. Recently, Vera was appointed to be on the Advisory Board for SOAR Outreach, a non-profit that distributes hygiene kits to homeless and low-income kids in over 40 Wake County Schools. On April 3, 2019, Vera signed with Marilyn’s Agency in Greensboro, NC. She has modeled for Uniquely U Bridal, Wrangler Jeans, Hart Tools, and Thomas Lee Sheets, Inc. to name a few. She has also modeled in several fashion shows, including North Carolina Fashion Week, and Raw Artist Fashion Show in NYC. Vera has graced the cover of International Face Magazine and was featured in Cary Magazine’s July Issue as one of their 2020 Movers and Shakers. Vera was Miss Cary for America 2020 and placed 2nd runner-up in the Miss NC for America 2020 pageant. In September, Vera was appointed as United States of America’s Ms. North Carolina 2021. Vera competed in San Antonio, TX for the title of United States of America’s Ms. 2021 this past February with a platform called “Treasure Your Chest”, and will continue with this platform for the USOA Ms. 2022 Pageant.

Vera's hobbies include Yoga & Pilates classes at Barre Up Studios, boutique shopping, collecting butterfly collectible items, day trips to Wrightsville Beach, Fashion Shows, Print Modeling, journaling, judging pageants & watching the same Lifetime Movies repeatedly.
